Is TrickyBird free?
- Yes. TrickyBird is free to use: there is no payment step and no card to enter. Paste a link and the site opens in your browser tab.
Do I need an account?
- No. TrickyBird has no accounts: there is no name, email, or password to create, and no sign-up step. Sessions are short-lived and expire on their own, so there is nothing to sign out of on a shared or borrowed device either.
Is TrickyBird a VPN?
- No. TrickyBird is a web proxy, not a VPN. It opens 1 site at a time in your browser tab, rather than routing your whole device through a tunnel, and there is no app to install. Do you keep logs?
- TrickyBird has no account and keeps a small access log for at most 48 hours: a shortened form of your IP address and the hostname of the site you connect to, but not the specific pages you open on it, and never page contents or messages. See the Security and logging page for the full detail.
Does it work on a school or work Chromebook?
- Yes, it can. TrickyBird runs in your browser with nothing to install, so a locked-down school or work Chromebook is not the obstacle. There is no extension to add and no admin rights to ask for: if the device has a browser, you have everything the method needs. The unblock guide walks through it step by step.
Is using a web proxy legal?
- Usually, yes. Reaching a public site your network blocks is more a question of that network’s or your employer’s rules than of the law. Do not use TrickyBird to get around paywalls, logins, or copyright protection, or for anything unlawful. This is general information, not legal advice. Some countries restrict circumvention tools, so check the guide on proxies and the law, and the policy of the network you are on.
Which sites work through TrickyBird?
- Many major sites render and play video through TrickyBird, and you can sign in on many of them. Rather than promise a list, we publish which sites currently work, checked in live tests, so you can look up the one you need before you start. That list is on the live status page, with the date of our last check.
Do you show ads?
- TrickyBird does not secretly inject ads, pop-ups, or trackers into the pages you open through it. Any advertising on a page you open comes from that site itself, not slipped in by us. To check, open the page source and look.
Do I need to install anything?
- No. TrickyBird has no app and no extension. It runs entirely in your browser, from a single link, on a phone, a laptop, or a managed device you cannot install software on. Open the link, paste the address you want, and the site loads in the same tab.
