Copyright Policy

TrickyBird, the operator of trickybird.com (“we”), respects copyright and handles copyright complaints promptly and in good faith, in the spirit of the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 USC 512.

TrickyBird is a web proxy. We do not host, publish, or store the sites you reach through it. We fetch a page you asked for and pass it to your browser. When content you reach through TrickyBird infringes a copyright you hold, use the process below and we will act on a valid notice.

What to include in a notice

So we can act, include all of the following:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. The copyrighted work you say is infringed.
  3. The material you say is infringing, with enough detail to locate it. Because we hold no copy, give us the exact address of the page as reached through TrickyBird (the full trickybird.com link) and, where you can, the original source address.
  4. Your name, mailing address, phone, and email.
  5. A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.

What we do with a valid notice

We block access to the identified material through TrickyBird, usually by blocking the target host or the specific proxied address, and we record the notice. Since we keep no copy and no page-level browsing history, blocking access at our edge is the remedy available to us.

Counter-notice

If your access to material was blocked and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, write to dmca@trickybird.com with the material that was blocked, the address where it appeared, and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief it was blocked by mistake or misidentification, plus your name and contact details. We will consider a valid counter-notice and may restore access.

Repeat infringers

We block, in appropriate circumstances, access for sources that generate repeated valid infringement complaints. TrickyBird has no user accounts, so we enforce this by blocking the reported target hosts and addresses and, where repeated valid complaints trace to the same session or network source, by blocking that source.

Honesty about false claims

Sending a copyright complaint you know to be false, or a counter-notice you know to be false, can carry legal consequences for you.
