Unblock Dailymotion without a VPN or an app

To unblock Dailymotion, paste the link into TrickyBird and press Launch: the page opens in the same browser tab through TrickyBird’s own address, with Dailymotion’s name kept out of your URL bar, the page, and the requests your browser sends. A link that will not load is usually the network’s doing, not the site’s: office filters and some ISPs block video hosting as a category, and Dailymotion gets swept up with the rest.

The usual fix, installing a VPN app, is a dead end on a device someone else manages. No admin rights means no installer, and often no browser extension either, and a VPN needs exactly the permission the device withholds. A web proxy skips the install entirely, because opening TrickyBird is just opening a web page.

For Dailymotion in particular, the whole flow runs through the proxy: the home feed, search, the video player, and the sign-in page. Video arrives as an ordinary HLS stream, and in our own checks a clip plays rather than stalling at a spinner, so you get the site, not a shell of it.

Dailymotion in our own tests

Home, search, sign-in, and the embedded player all run through TrickyBird, and a public clip plays in our own desktop checks.

The address here is TrickyBird’s own, never the address of the site you opened

The site loads in the tab, but its address stays out of your URL bar and off the page you see.

How does TrickyBird open Dailymotion?

When you launch Dailymotion, your browser talks to TrickyBird, not to Dailymotion. TrickyBird fetches the page for you, rewrites its HTML, CSS, and JavaScript so every link, thumbnail, and script points back through TrickyBird, and streams the result into your tab. A small script in the tab catches what the page loads afterward, more videos, clicks, and the player, and keeps those on TrickyBird’s address too.

Dailymotion’s player made this harder than most sites. It checks where its own script was loaded from to decide which video server to talk to, and through a proxy it was reading TrickyBird’s address instead of the real video host, so it looped and the page never finished loading. The fix lets that one read see the real address while everything else stays rewritten. After it, the home feed, search, and player load normally.

What works and what to expect on Dailymotion?

Browsing and search work without an account. You can open the home feed, run a search, and watch a public clip straight away. The sign-in page also loads through the proxy if you want your own account, and while you use it TrickyBird hides your IP address from Dailymotion and keeps Dailymotion’s address off your network. Vimeo opens through TrickyBird as well.

What you get is an ordinary Dailymotion session in a normal tab, with the site’s name staying out of the URL bar and the page. TrickyBird is for reaching a public site your network blocks, not for getting past a paywall, an account wall, or a geo-restriction, and the edge keeps a shortened form of your IP and the hostname you reached, for at most 48 hours.

Questions

Does Dailymotion video actually play through TrickyBird?

Yes. The home feed, search, and the embedded player all run through the proxy, and in our own desktop checks a public clip starts and plays. The video arrives as an ordinary HLS stream whose segments are fetched through TrickyBird’s address, so playback works without Dailymotion’s name appearing in your browser’s requests.

Will it work on a school Chromebook or a work laptop?

Yes. TrickyBird runs in the browser tab you already have, so there is nothing to install and no admin rights to ask for, which is exactly the permission a managed device refuses. You paste a Dailymotion link, press Launch, and the page opens in a normal tab, on whatever machine has a browser.

Do I need a Dailymotion account?

No. You can browse the home feed, search, and watch public clips without signing in, and TrickyBird has no signup of its own. If you do want your account, the sign-in page loads through the proxy too, and TrickyBird hides your IP address from Dailymotion while you use it.

Is it legal to watch Dailymotion through TrickyBird?

Reaching a public video site through a web proxy is not illegal in itself in most places. TrickyBird is for opening blocked public sites, not for getting around paywalls, account walls, or copyright protection. Follow Dailymotion’s own terms once you are on it, and check your network’s rules and your local law. This is general information, not legal advice.
