Unblock Kick and watch a live channel with its chat

Your browser talks to TrickyBird, and TrickyBird is what talks to Kick. It fetches the page, rewrites the HTML, the CSS and the JavaScript so that every link, image and later request points back through its own address, and leaves a service worker in the tab to catch whatever loads after that. A live page never really finishes loading, so that last part carries more weight here than it would on an ordinary site.

The video is the interesting half. Kick hands its player a second address for the stream itself, on a different host from the site you are looking at, and that address is written inside a file the page downloads rather than into the page. The stream then arrives as short segments, refreshed every few seconds the way live video works, and every one of those refreshes has to take the same route the page did. Twitch is built the same way and needed the same handling, which is why the 2 pages describe the same trip.

The sidebar, the search field, and a grid of live channels with viewer counts ticking on them. Click one and the player takes the tab over. We left a channel running instead of sampling it, and it held: a full buffer, a picture at 1920 by 1080, and a clock that kept advancing rather than sitting still. That last one is the difference between a stream playing and a still frame in a paused player. The chat beside it connected and pulled its history, so you can read along while you watch.

Kick’s own front page carries a gambling category alongside the game and music ones. That is Kick’s arrangement rather than anything TrickyBird adds, and it sits on the first screen, so it is worth knowing before you open the site.

Filters sort sites into categories and close whole categories at once, and live video sits in the same bucket as games: popular, heavy, and easy to justify closing when bandwidth is the thing somebody is managing. Twitch is usually shut by the same rule. A rule written that way is pointed at a category and not at you, which is why Kick can be closed on a school or office network and open on the next one you walk into.

Indonesian ISPs restricted access to kick.com in early September 2026. People there reported that the site stopped loading, including on connections with no filter of their own, and whether it is closed on a given connection depends on the provider. TrickyBird fetches the page from Kick itself, and that is what arrives in your tab.

We have not checked it, so this page does not speak for it, and the same goes for everything an account touches: following a channel, typing in chat, subscribing. Watching needs none of that, and if a stream is what you came for, the stream is the part that has been through the check.
