Unblock Facebook and open your own feed

Most proxy guides stop at Facebook’s login box. We went past it: TrickyBird opened facebook.com, took a real email and password, and landed on a signed-in feed with real posts, the left menu, and the box asking what was on our mind. Paste the address, press Launch, and Facebook loads in the same tab through TrickyBird’s own address, with nothing to install and no TrickyBird account to create.

Facebook is usually blocked as a category, social media, rather than for anything you did, so the wall turns up on office networks, shared Wi-Fi, and managed devices where you cannot install an app or add an extension. The advice you were given is to install a VPN, and installing is precisely what that device refuses. TrickyBird is a web proxy that runs in the tab you already have open.

The address your browser uses is one of our own, with Facebook’s encoded inside it rather than spelled out, and the requests leaving your browser go to TrickyBird. One thing to expect: Facebook runs a device check of its own, so the first sign-in from a browser it has not seen can come with a confirmation step. That step is Facebook’s, you finish it yourself, and it happens without a proxy too.

The sign-in and the signed-in feed both worked in our own desktop tests, and we ran it twice. Facebook can add a confirmation step for a browser it does not recognize, which is its own check and not something the proxy removes.

Is facebook.com blocked on your network?

The check asks facebook.com for one small file directly from your connection, not through TrickyBird, so your network can see that request like any direct visit.

How does TrickyBird open Facebook?

When you launch Facebook, your browser talks to TrickyBird, and TrickyBird connects to Facebook for you. Facebook is a large JavaScript app, so fetching one page gets you nowhere. TrickyBird rewrites the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript so every link, image, and request points back through its own address, and a small script and a service worker stay in the tab to catch the scrolling, the photos, and the next batch of posts.

That is why, once the app is running, it keeps talking to TrickyBird rather than to Facebook. In our checks the photos in the feed arrived through TrickyBird rather than from Facebook’s own image servers, which is the part that usually gives a proxy away. Instagram runs on the same Meta stack and opens the same way.

Can you log in to Facebook through TrickyBird?

Yes, and we tested it rather than assumed it. You open the login form, type your email or phone number and your password, and Facebook takes them through the proxy. The feed that comes back has real posts with their photos and video, the left menu with Groups, Marketplace, and Reels, and a post box carrying your own name.

Facebook also runs a device check of its own. A browser it has not seen before can be asked to confirm the sign-in, and several attempts in a row from one address can bring the same step up. It is Facebook’s check, it appears without a proxy as well, and it is not something TrickyBird puts in your way.

Is your Facebook visit private through TrickyBird?

Facebook sees the connection arriving from TrickyBird rather than from your IP address, so your address stays away from Facebook. And because your browser does not connect to facebook.com, with that address carried inside one of ours, encoded rather than spelled out, the network you are on sees TrickyBird rather than Facebook.

Signing in is a separate matter: once you enter your own credentials, Facebook knows which account is browsing, exactly as it would in any other browser, and while your session is open TrickyBird holds that site’s cookies in a server-side store keyed to your session, cleared about an hour after the last cookie written into it. To run the service and stop abuse, the edge keeps a short access log: a shortened form of your IP address, the hostname of the site you connected to, and basic response details, kept for at most 48 hours. Questions

Can I log in to my Facebook account through TrickyBird?

Yes. In our own tests the sign-in went through the proxy: the email and password were accepted, and the feed opened with real posts, the left menu, and the post box under our own name. We ran it a second time to be sure it was not a fluke.

Why does Facebook ask me to confirm the login?

Because a browser it has not seen before looks like a new device to it. You finish the confirmation yourself and the feed opens. Signing in several times in a row from one address can bring the same step up, so leave a little time between attempts.

Do I need to install anything to unblock Facebook?

No. TrickyBird is a website, so opening it takes the same permission as opening any other page, which is none. You download nothing and never see an admin prompt, which is what makes it work on a device where the VPN app you were told to install never gets that far.

Does Facebook see my real IP address?

No. Facebook sees the connection coming from TrickyBird, so your IP address stays away from Facebook, and the network you are on sees a connection to TrickyBird rather than to Facebook. Signing in is separate: your account still identifies you to Facebook, the same as in any browser.
