Unblock Snapchat when the app is not an option

Snapchat never sees your browser. TrickyBird fetches the page instead, and before handing it over it goes through the HTML, the CSS, and the JavaScript, changing every address inside so that the links, the images, and everything requested later come back to TrickyBird rather than going out to Snapchat. TrickyBird also leaves a small script and a service worker behind in the tab, which is the part that matters on a feed like Spotlight, where nearly everything you end up watching was loaded after the first page arrived.

That is why, once the feed is running, the tab keeps talking to TrickyBird instead of reaching out on its own. We watched the Spotlight feed, a creator profile, a search page, the sign-in form, and a video playing, and on each of them the requests leaving the browser went to TrickyBird rather than to Snapchat. Video is usually where a proxy gives itself away, since the clip normally arrives from a content network with an address of its own that has nothing to do with the page it plays on, and here it arrived through the proxy like everything else.

Spotlight is Snapchat’s feed of short public videos, and it is what you land on. The video starts by itself, with no account and no tap to begin it. A public creator’s page works the same way, at snapchat.com/@theirname. What you get there is a grid of that person’s Spotlight posts, and each one opens as a page of its own. If short public video is the reason you came, TikTok and Instagram open in a tab on the same terms.

Search is open logged out as well, though Snapchat puts it somewhere you would not guess: there is no /search page on the site at all. Search lives under /explore, so snapchat.com/explore/cats comes back with creators, lenses (Snapchat’s camera filters) and Spotlight clips for that word, and that address opens through TrickyBird like any other.

Russia ordered Snapchat blocked on 10 October 2025 and said so publicly on 4 December 2025. Iran blocks it as well. The UAE blocks something narrower, its calls rather than the service, and calls are the one part TrickyBird cannot give back: a Snapchat call leaves your browser on a direct connection of its own, and a web proxy is never in that path.

Yes. We went through it on a real account instead of stopping at the form. Snapchat asks for a username or an email address, then a password on a second screen, then a code it emails to the address on the account; the code is the check it runs on any browser it does not recognize, proxy or no proxy. All 3 steps went through TrickyBird.

Chat we have not tried, so this page says nothing about whether it works through the proxy, and the sign-in is not evidence either way. What we tested is the public side of Snapchat, which is also the side that never asks who you are.

From Snapchat’s side the connection arrives from TrickyBird instead of from your own address. Your account is a separate question: sign in, and Snapchat knows whose session it is, the same as in any browser. To run the service and curb abuse, the edge keeps a short access log: a shortened form of your IP address and the destination hostname, kept for at most 48 hours, with no TrickyBird account for any of it to attach to.
