Unblock ChatGPT and keep the replies streaming

To unblock ChatGPT, paste chatgpt.com into TrickyBird and press Launch: it opens in the same browser tab through TrickyBird’s own address, and the replies stream in as you chat.

ChatGPT gets filtered in more places than most sites: schools restrict it over academic-integrity rules, and plenty of workplaces block it on the corporate network. The device in front of you usually will not let you install an app or a VPN to get around that. TrickyBird needs no install, because it is a website, and opening it takes the same permission as opening any other page.

One boundary worth stating: ChatGPT is OpenAI’s assistant and TrickyBird is only the proxy carrying the page to your tab. You sign in to your own OpenAI account, and your messages reach ChatGPT through us rather than from your browser directly: the address your browser uses is one of ours, with the ChatGPT one encoded inside it rather than spelled out.

What to expect from ChatGPT

Signing in with an emailed code and then chatting both worked in our own desktop tests, with the replies streaming in as they do on a direct visit.

Is chatgpt.com blocked on your network?

The check asks chatgpt.com for one small file directly from your connection, not through TrickyBird, so your network can see that request like any direct visit.

One of our addresses, with the site’s encoded into it

The site loads in the tab you are already in, and this address will not always look the same, since sometimes it is only numbers.

How does TrickyBird open ChatGPT?

When you launch ChatGPT, your browser talks to TrickyBird, and TrickyBird connects to ChatGPT for you. It rewrites the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript so every link and script points back through its own address, and a small script in the tab catches everything the app loads after that, the live chat requests included.

The chat is the hard part. A signed-in conversation keeps talking to ChatGPT’s backend the whole time you use it, and every answer arrives as a stream rather than one finished block. TrickyBird routes each of those calls through its own address and leaves the stream intact, so replies type out on screen the way they do without a proxy. Those calls go to one of our own addresses rather than to chatgpt.com, with the ChatGPT address encoded inside rather than spelled out. The same mechanism opens Claude, the other assistant we test.

Does signing in to ChatGPT work through TrickyBird?

Yes. We signed in with a real account rather than take the login page as proof. You enter your email, OpenAI sends a login code, you type it in, and your account opens. From there new chats answered normally, long replies streamed through in full, and the proxied session behaved the same as the direct one, which is the bar we hold before calling a site working.

Questions

Can I use ChatGPT when my network blocks it?

Yes. TrickyBird opens chatgpt.com in the browser tab you already have, with nothing to install and no admin rights to ask for, so it works on locked-down devices where an app or a VPN cannot be added. The network sees a connection to TrickyBird, not to ChatGPT.

Do I need to install a ChatGPT app or a VPN?

No. You install nothing, and there is no TrickyBird account. TrickyBird is a website, so opening ChatGPT through it takes the same permission as opening any other page. That is the reason it works on managed devices where every install is blocked.

Does this work on a locked-down device with no admin rights?

Yes. TrickyBird runs in the browser tab you already have, so there is no installer to run and no admin rights to ask for. That is exactly where installing a VPN app fails first on a managed work laptop or a school Chromebook, and there is nothing here for the device policy to block.

Does signing in to my OpenAI account work?

Yes, in our own tests it does. You enter your email, type in the login code OpenAI sends you, and your account opens through the proxy. After that a signed-in chat answered normally for us, with replies streaming in full rather than arriving as one late block.

Do answers still stream in, or do I wait for the whole reply?

They stream. ChatGPT sends each answer as a live stream, and TrickyBird carries that stream through without collecting it into one block, so replies type out on screen the same way they do without the proxy. Long answers came through in full in our tests.

Can TrickyBird see my ChatGPT conversations?

TrickyBird fetches the pages for you, and the edge log keeps a shortened form of your IP address, the hostname you connected to, and basic response details, for at most 48 hours. Your messages are not recorded, and there is no TrickyBird account tying any of it together.
